Workshop on metals today

HYDERABAD Dec. 8. An international workshop on `Conservation of metals' is being organised by Salarjung Museum on December 9 and 10. The Director of the National Geophysical Research Institute, V.P. Dimri, will inaugurate the workshop.

A press release issued by the museum said the workshop is second of the four sessions being held in the country. The first session was held at Lucknow while the third and the fourth sessions would be held in Chennai and Thanjavur respectively.

The workshop has attracted participants from the Netherlands and Indonesia, who would be interacting on various problems and techniques of conservation of metals. Officials from the Archaeological Survey of India, the Department of Archaeology, the Government of Uttar Pradesh, State Museum of Lucknow, the National Museum Institutes, New Delhi, the State Department of Archaeology and Museums, Hyderabad, Government Museum, Chennai, and Birla Institute, Hyderabad, would also participate.

The Salarjung Museum is also organising a special exhibition showcasing development of metals from ore, fabrication and their conservation by different departments.
