IGL to enter new year in grand style

NEW DELHI DEC. 8. In its hope that the New Year would be much more productive and peaceful, the Indraprastha Gas Limited -- which drew flak from the Supreme Court and almost all other quarters for the CNG crisis in Delhi -- has drawn up plans to bid adieu to the old year and usher in the new year in grand style.

As part of the programme and to shore up its image, the corporation would be illuminating and decorating all its CNG stations and doling out gifts to its customers.

The celebrations, which would run from Christmas to New Year, would also see slogan competitions and putting up of hoardings bearing greetings and other messages by the IGL.

The idea, a senior official, said was to get close to the public as IGL has now become the sole supplier of fuel for public transport vehicles in Delhi, with all the diesel vehicles being phased out.

To make its presence felt in the minds of the people in a positive sense, IGL would illuminate and decorate all the stations. The illuminations will remain in place for a week and for the purpose, IGL will bear the expenses. Barring the stations inside DTC premises, which are not observable to the general public, all the IGL stations will reflect the spirit of festivity.

Further, to encourage the stations operators to put their best foot forward, IGL officials would inspect and select the best illuminated and decorated stations and award them with gifts or cash rewards.

This scheme is meant to instil a feeling of belonging in the station operators and inculcate a feeling of friendly competition to improve the operational efficiency of the stations.

The Christmas and New Year campaign would also see IGL sending out its greetings to both direct and indirect customers. For this a large number of banners would be used.

They would be displayed at the entry and exit points and canopies of all the stations. Bearing greeting slogans in Hindi, the banners would also have the IGL name and logo on them.

For the customers, who include a large number of public transport operators, the corporation would also be devising slogan competitions. Besides, to leave an indelible mark on the minds of its customers -- who have long suffered from shortage of gas -- it would seek to reverse the adverse phase by reverting back to the customer and offering gifts and giveaways.

Just as it did during Diwali -- when it distributed around 50,000 gift items -- IGL has drawn up plans to give all its customers something to remember.

And to ensure that the distribution of gifts was proceeding normally, IGL marketing officials would visit the stations at random to keep a check.

While during Diwali, the gift was a set of two diyas worth Rs. 5 each, this time the gift would be even more interesting, promised the official.
