'Mystery shrouds Veeranam deal'

By Our Staff Reporter

COIMBATORE Dec. 8. The TNCC president, S. Balakrishnan, today said the report on Veeranam water project deal untied quite a few knots. "More skeletons would tumble out if the matter is probed," he said speaking to presspersons here.

There was a "mystery'' behind the DMK and AIADMK regimes (barring the M.G. Ramachandran Government) pursuing the scheme, "which is a flop''.

Instead of pursuing the scheme, the Government should take efforts to acquire the 24-km stretch entangled in a litigation in the Telugu Ganga project to bring Krishna water.

"The project would bring 12 tmcft to Chennai and provide a permanent solution to the water crisis,'' he said.
