S. Ramesh is KFCC President

Bangalore Dec. 8. The former minister and Congress leader, S. Ramesh (in picture), has been elected President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) in a bitterly fought election held on Saturday. He defeated the film actress, Jayamala. The chamber, which had withheld the result of the election, announced it today, rejecting the complaint of bogus voting made by Ms. Jayamala. Mr. Ramesh secured 517 votes as against 482 secured by Ms. Jayamala. The returning officer, Basanthkumar Patil, announced the election of Mr. Ramesh in the early hours of Sunday. Mr. Ramesh succeeds K.V. Chandra Shekara. The other office-bearers elected are: vice-presidents: S.A. Chinne Gowda (Producer Sector), K. Janakiram: (Distributor Sector); and R.P. Ashok (Exhibitor Sector); secretaries: B.N. Gangadhar (Producer), G.K. Kutty (Distributor); Thomas D'Souza, (Exhibitor); and treasurer: H.N. Maruthi.
