Killing condemned

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI DEC. 8. Concerned over reports of the "unfortunate'' killing of the former Karnataka Minister, H. Nagappa, the Congress leader, Priyaranjan Dasmunshi, today called for a joint and concerted action by the Centre and all the States involved to apprehend the forest brigand, Veerappan. Reacting to news of the discovery of Mr. Nagappa's body, Mr. Dasmunshi held the Centre and States concerned equally accountable.

The Janata Dal (U) leader and Union Minister, Sharad Yadav, attacked both the Karnataka and the Tamil Nadu Governments for the death of the former Minister, who belonged to his party. Stating that the tussle between the two States was responsible for the turn of events, Mr. Yadav said Mr. Nagappa's death was a big loss to the party in Karnataka.

The BJP spokesman, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, expressed shock over the news that Mr. Nagappa's body had been found. "Now, both the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka Governments should make a renewed attempt to nab Veerappan,'' he said.
