South Africa sinks Pakistan

DURBAN DEC. 8. South Africa's bowlers demolished Pakistan's batting line up on Sunday to send the visitors tumbling to a 132-run defeat in the first of five one-day internationals between the two countries.

Skipper Shaun Pollock led the way in front of his home crowd at the Kingsmead stadium with two economical and penetrative spells, which brought him three wickets for just 12 runs in nine overs and five balls.

Also grabbing three wickets was left-arm spinner Nicky Boje.

It was the Pakistani captain's 400th one day international wicket, and he became only the second man after his opening bowling teammate Wasim to reach the mark.
