According to the information reaching here, the alliance of Kavita Bai, daughter of D. Bojjya Naik of Kothapalli thanda, was fixed with Sreeramulu Naik, son of H. Chakrya Naik of B. Thanda in Chakrayipeta mandal of Cuddapah district, three months back. The parents of the girl promised to give Rs. 1 lakh and 100 gms gold as dowry. An amount of Rs. 85,000 and 10 grams of gold was given to the boy's parents on the betrothal day and a promissory note was given for the remaining amount and gold. The boy is working as a postman at Nallacheruvu in Anantapur district. However, the girl's parents could not arrange the remaining money in time. As the money did not reach him, the boy sent a message to his in-laws for the remaining amount and gold to be sent to Nallacheruvu by Saturday night, or else they need not come for the marriage. Accordingly, the girl's parents sent an emissary with some money to Nallacheruvu last night to meet the boy. However, the boy left a message there to get the amount to his village. The emissary was also informed in Nallacheruvu that the boy was not residing there for the last three months. Unable to decide on the next move, the emissary returned to Kothapalli thanda the same night. As the bridegroom and his marriage party did not turn up at Kothapalli till the time fixed for the marriage, the bride's parents approached the police.
