Men to the defence of women

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Dec. 8. It has been the lot of women's organisations so far to fight atrocities on women. The Kerala capital would witness on December 9 a significant attempt by prominent cultural personalities to reverse the trend. In what could be termed a path-breaking effort, a men's cultural rally is being organised in the city in defence of women.

The rally, being organised to mark conclusion of the worldwide campaign against atrocities on women, is being organised to create awareness among men to take the initiative in fighting atrocities and attacks on women. Prominent among the social activists, writers and academics expected to participate in the rally are R.V.G. Menon, Paul Zacharia, B.R.P. Bhaskar, M. Kunhaman, P.J. Cherian, Chandan Mukherjee, Desamangalam Ramakrishnan and Maithreyan.

The rally would begin from Statue and conclude at the Gandhi Park Maidan at East Fort. It would be preceded by a street play by Abhinaya and screening of Rahul Roy's film `When Four Friends Meet'.
