Temporary nod for Corpn. Annual Plan

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Dec. 8. The District Planning Committee (DPC) has accorded temporary approval for the 2002-'03 annual plan and projects of the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation.

The District Panchayat president, Sasikala Sivasankar, who is also the chairperson of the DPC, said here on Saturday, that individual projects could be discussed only after the report from the Planning Board. She said the temporary approval was necessitated by the deadline for technical approval.

The total outlay of the Corporation's annual plan is Rs.53 crores. An amount of Rs.32 crores has been earmarked for the production, service and infrastructure sectors.

The DPC approved an action plan for finalisation of projects prepared by the three-tier panchayats. Under this programme, the projects prepared by various block panchayats and the gram panchayats under them will be finalised on December 12, 13 and 17. The projects for the District Panchayat will be finalised on December 16 while the projects for the four municipalities will be taken up on December 17.

The District Collector, E. Ayyappan, directed officials to resolve the technical difficulties in the exercise.
