BCCI-ICC meet on contracts issue

KOLKATA DEC. 5. Delegates of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will meet here on Monday to try and resolve the contracts issue which rocked Indian cricket in specific, and world cricket in general.

Since the meeting between the three top Indian players — captain Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid — and the BCCI president, Jagmohan Dalmiya, just before the Indian team's departure for New Zealand at the Kolkata airport the BCCI has drawn up its action plan on the vexed issue.

The meeting also enabled the Board to work out the representation at the administrative and players' level while taking on the ICC team.

The all-important meeting, to be held on Monday afternoon, will have Justice Ahmed Ebrahim of Zimbabwe, a member of the ICC's World Cup Contracts Committee (WCCC), and Dave Richardson, former South African wicketkeeper and now ICC General Manager (Cricket), on the ICC side and Mr. Dalmiya and Anil Kumble, who will be presenting the viewpoints of the Indian players, on the Indian Board's side.

As per the indications available here, a final decision on the issue may not be arrived at, but the interaction will certainly go a long way in setting the tone for a final solution. — Our Special Correspondent
