Paritala evasive on TD membership impasse

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR DEC. 5. The TDP legislator from Penukonda, Paritala Ravindra, has alleged that his "soreness with the party leadership over non-recognition of his services to the party and the resultant impasse in the membership drive in Penukonda and Dharmavaram constituencies'' are creation of the media.

Talking to newspersons at the residence of the Hindupur MP, B.K. Parthasarathi, here today he said he had been keeping quiet as there was time left for completion of membership.

"It can be completed by December 7 evening and there can be a problem if it is not completed by then,'' he said.

Reports over his soreness with the party leadership and most of the reasons cited in the media were false, Mr. Ravindra asserted. That was the reason why he was not reading the newspapers, particularly the news pertaining to his Penukonda constituency, nowadays, he noted.

Asked whether the party leaders K. Srinivasulu, B. Shobha Nagi Reddy, B.K. Parthasarathi and V. Hanumantharaya Chowdary did visit him at Venkatapuram last evening and tried to appease him on behalf of the party leadership to take up the membership drive, Mr. Ravindra evaded a direct answer and said while the leaders of the district visited his place casually, Ms. Shobha Nagi Reddy had met him over a personal matter, regarding purchase of a bullet-proof car.

The Penukonda strongman also refuted the charges of irregularities in the execution of the Food-for-work programme in his constituency and said representatives of the media could visit any village in the constituency and they would find the works as per the norms.

On in the impasse in the membership drive in the Dharmavaram constituency, he said the vice-chairperson of the municipality, Shaikshavali, did not consult him while taking the decision not to take up the membership drive.
