The LGS member along with the three others, were produced before newsmen at a press conference this evening at the office of the Kamareddy DSP. The SP and the Kamareddy DSP, Raghava Reddy and Probationary DSP, Ramakrishna, were present. Akkapur Chandram alias Battu Chandram, resident of Akkapur village in Machareddy mandal joined the underground outfit a year ago and worked in the Banswada-Yellareddi and Kamareddy-Sirnapalli squads before deciding to quit the movement and surrender. Popularly known as Tractor Chandram in the PW, Chandram, was an active militant for over three years before he was drafted into the dalam. After joining the dalam, he was given a 410 musket weapon. He is involved in three murders including that of a police constable in Somarampet village in Machareddy mandal. The said constable along with his brother were shot dead by the naxals in Somarampet village last year. Chandram also was responsible for the killing of one Vaddera Chittaiah of Yellampet village. This apart, he was part of the PGA which made an abortive bid to attack Ramareddy Armed Out Post early this year. Chandram, during this attempt was responsible for blasting of a couple of culverts on the way to Ramareddy village. He escaped from three exchanges of fire at Maddikunta, Garjanpalli and Manala. Two other naxals -- Atikam Shankar Goud and Golla Anjaiah -- were taken into the Kamareddy-Sirnapalli LGS by PW leaders. They fled the dalam after working for less than a month and decided to surrender. The duo along with Samaganji Ramesh, all hailing from Singaraipalli village in the mandal surrendered before the police today. The trio were active members of banned outfit's frontal organisation and for some time worked in the Radical Balala Sangham. Out of the three, Ramesh, escaped from two exchanges of fire in Maddikunta and Issanapalli. All the three fearing about their safety decided to quit the underground movement and came out. Four extremists arrested: A report from Warangal said the district police arrested four militants working for the CPI (ML) PW today. According to the DSP, T Venkat Rao, the arrested were B Karunakar alias Kiran, O. Srinu alian Niranjan, P. Sadanandam alias Darganna and R. Mohan alias Uppalaiah. The police seized gelatine sticks, electric detonators and electric wire from their possession. They were reportedly working as per the instructions of the PW senior leader, Ramakrishna, providing shelter to the underground cadre.
