By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE Dec. 5. The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) had not started dealing with the tariff petitions filed by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (KPTCL) and the four distribution companies (discoms), the KERC Chairman, Philipose Mathai, said on Thursday.

He told presspersons here that the commission had not even concluded if it (the petition) was "complete".

The company had its own problems. It was in a state of "perennial transition", the KERC Chairman added.

The KPTCL and the four discoms filed the tariff petitions on November 30.

According to reports, the average overall hike sought by the four discoms is about 10.23 per cent, to bridge a revenue gap of Rs. 575 crore.

The domestic/AEH consumer category faces a 16 per cent tariff increase in the proposal. For LT industries, the increase sought is 14 to 15 per cent and for HT industries, 3.7 per cent.

Besides, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) has proposed a 10 per cent increase in fixed charges for domestic/AEH consumers in Bangalore Metro Area Zone.
