GM unveils Opel Vectra

NEW DELHI DEC. 5. After Opel Astra, Corsa and Swing, General Motors India today added one more, Opel Vectra, to its stable of luxurious motor cars.

Armed with new features, including an interactive driving system (IDS), the latest generation of Opel Vectra was unveiled here by the company's President and Managing Director, Aditya Vij.

The IDS combines the improved control and safety functions of the individual chassis components.

The launch of Vecrta in India, Mr. Vij, said was delayed "as we wanted to bring in the latest technology here". The car will be available in a notchback `Sedan' body style and premiered at select Opel dealership outlets from January 9. "It will be available for deliveries immediately," he added.

Aimed at meeting the demanding tastes, lifestyles and needs of the premium segment car buyers, Vectra claims to provide its customers with luxurious interiors.

"Vectra will address the needs of growing segment of successful individuals, especially those who have made it to the top through their intrinsic strength and diligence," Mr. Vij said.

Besides IDS, other features of the new Vectra are: An improved active head restraint on the front seats and the height of the restraints can be adjusted for all seats, full-size front and side airbags in the front, three-point automatic belts for all seats, belt tensioners on the four outer seats, pedal release system patented by Opel, and an advanced traction control system.

Replying to queries, Mr. Vij said India had been identified as one of the key growth markets in the region. "We are in the process of introducing more models in the near future and widening our product portfolio," he said.
