This Day That Age
A New York report dated the 4th said that the United Nations was witnessing an amusing development. Mr. Trygve Lie who had resigned earlier as Secretary-General, was canvassing influential quarters to get the world body to let him continue in office for the remainder of his term. Mr. Lie had also notified several leading delegations that he was willing to stay on if the U.N. could not agree on a successor. His supporters were dropping hints in the right ears that Mr. Lie wanted to continue in the office.
