Weight does matter

ABOUT 50 girls of Hasanath College for Women on Thursday learnt that blood donation is no big deal.

Though most of them could not bear the sight of the needle pricking their skin and closed their eyes, they found, at the end of it all, that it did not leave them in pain.

The students also learnt that blood donation does not mean loss of energy.

Organised by the National Cadet Corps unit of the college, the event was a big disappointment to over 100 girls.

Though they volunteered to donate blood, they did not meet the eligibility criteria.

They were either under 18 years or weighed less than 45 kg.

A few students did not have enough haemoglobin count to be able to donate blood.

However, those studying in pre-university and aged around 17 years can hope to do a good deed and donate blood sometime next year.
