Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
Hyderabadis do not lag far behind with 80 per cent being concerned about the dreaded disease and 93 per cent respondents feeling safe sex is a must. This was revealed in the annual survey conducted online across 10 cities by KamaSutra, leading brand in premium condoms and market research agency, Cross Tab, on the website ksontheweb.com. The findings, which were released to the press here on Saturday covered topics like pre-marital sex, views and behaviour towards contraception, sex education, etc. And, there isn't much of a difference between the perceptions of respondents of other cities with those in Hyderabad. The survey revealed that more than 74 per cent of people in the city felt sex education was necessary and that 84 per cent think it was mainly directed to teach "responsible" behaviour. Only 3 per cent have obtained sex education through professionals with 83 per cent being helped by either "friends" or "self-reading". There was also a thumbs up sign for the cause of sex education with 80 per cent of the respondents wanting it to be imparted in school. Interestingly, 17 per cent said sex was natural and as such there was no need for any "formal sex education". On an average, Hyderabadis were having sex 17.1 days in a month and 69 per cent were satisfied with their current frequency. About 29 per cent of respondents claimed to be using condoms, especially the unmarried. Another 20 per cent used them occasionally. The survey had a sample size of 5,000 individuals above 18 years of age across the cities of Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh. The survey says 83 per cent claimed to be loyal to their current partners and 80 per cent were sure sexual integrity was important for one's marriage. But, 20 per cent think both partners should be free to have extramarital sex with spouse's consent! Overall looks, figure and eyes are the arousal points for men and women with the missionary position being the most preferred. And, 70 per cent claim to have always attained an orgasm. Some 52 per cent claimed to have had pre-marital sex and 50 per cent of them had it before 21 years of age with 57 per cent of these having indulged in sex with more than one individual. Only 30 per cent, however, think it's alright to indulge in it. Boyfriend or girlfriend emerges as the number one partner for pre-marital sex and 87 per cent are sure it has increased of late.
