Having a typical outing on a vacation, Mr. Vajpayee played with the three-year-old child of the gallery's caretaker and shared jokes with its former manager, Ms. Ursulla of Russia, in a mild drizzle. Mr. Vajpayee told reporters after visiting the gallery that the beautiful Himachal Pradesh lacked an institution of art, where youngsters could learn painting, music and drama. "So I have decided to give Rs one crore for setting up of a school of art here (at Roerich Estate in Naggar) from the Government fund," he said, adding that it would be of the international standard. He showered praise on Nicholai Constaninavich Roerich, the famous Russian artist, who made Manali his home. PTI
