India, which is yet to win the prestigious title in nine appearances in the game's premier event so far, finished fourth in the last edition at Cologne in Germany. Though the Indians have never qualified for the Champions Trophy final, they can take heart from the fact that their best showing came in 1982 at Amsterdam, the venue of this year's edition, when they finished third, ahead of Pakistan, Germany and the erstwhile USSR. The premier six-nation event, which will conclude on August 24, also features Australia, Argentina, Germany, and Pakistan. India will play arch-rival Pakistan on August 22, while its matches against last year's runner-up Germany, Australia and Argentina will be held on August 17, 19 and 20 respectively. In the last edition at Cologne, India won two of its five league matches against Australia and Pakistan, held Holland 3-3 and lost to Germany and South Korea. In the play-off match, India lost to Pakistan 3-4 to finish fourth. The Indian team, which is currently undergoing training in Bangalore, will have one warm-up tournament before the start of the Champions Trophy. The Indians will embark on an 11-day tour of Australia to play a double-leg tournament, also featuring the host, an Australia `A' side and Pakistan. The first leg of the tournament, scheduled to be held in Perth, will begin on May 29, while the second leg will be held in Sydney. Champions Trophy schedule: Aug 16: Pakistan vs Australia, Holland vs India; Aug 17: Argentina vs Pakistan, Australia vs Holland, India vs Germany; Aug 18: Germany vs Argentina; Aug 19: India vs Australia, Holland v Pakistan; Aug 20: Australia vs Germany, Argentina vs India; Aug 21: Pakistan vs Germany, Holland vs Argentina; Aug 22: India vs Pakistan; Aug 23: Argentina vs Australia, Germany vs Holland; Aug 24: 5th vs 6th, 3rd vs 4th, 1st vs 2nd (Final).
