Clijsters, Sugiyama in last four

Rome May 17. Belgian second seed Kim Clijsters defeated Russian eighth seed Anastasia Myskin 6-2, 6-2, while Ai Sugiyama of Indonasia ousted unseeded Slovenian Tina Pisnik 6-1, 6-3 to make the semifinals of the clay court Rome Masters here on Thursday.

Clijsters will meet Japanese Sugiyama while World No. 1 and defending champion SerenaWilliams will take on French fourth seed Amelie Mauresmo in the semifinals.

The results: Kim Clijsters bt Anastasia Myskin 6-2, 6-2; Ai Sugiyama bt Tina Pisnik 6-1, 6-3.
