While six of the 13-member family group, who set out on a pilgrimage to north India from Hyderabad on May 8 and were travelling by the ill-fated Frontier Mail, escaped with injuries, the remaining seven met with a tragic death in the mishap. The fate of these seven passengers was not known for two days. The hopes of their family members were dashed when the bodies of the passengers were identified today. According to information reaching here, the bodies could not be brought to Hyderabad as they were in a bad condition. The last rites were performed in Ludhiana on the request of their family members who came from Hyderabad. The dead were Girija Devi (56), D.V. Ramana (48), D. Rajashri (42), D. Rajyalaxmi (56), T. Srinivas Murthy (55), T. Radha Rani (40) and D. Anuradha (45). A pall of gloom descended on the houses of the victims here at Kalyanpuri in Uppal, Nagole and Kothapet on receipt of information about the death.
Condolences
The Minister of State for Railways, Bandaru Dattatreya, expressed heart-felt condolences to the family members of the Frontier Mail mishap victims hailing from Hyderabad. He assured ex gratia and other benefits to the kin of the victims, according to a press release.
