It is stated that when Ms. Sowmya Misra was working here as Assistant Commissioner of Police she raided the bar association premises on information that some lawyers were playing cards there. She allegedly threatened the lawyers and damaged furniture. Police filed a case against some lawyers but they were acquitted later. The Bar association too filed a private case against Ms. Sowmya Misra, G. Visweswara Rao, Circle Inspector, V. Gopalakrishna and Sreenivasa Babu, SIs under section 448, 506, 427, 380 read with 34 IPC. The case was taken on file. The accused sought permission for filing special vakalat which is pending in the court. As the police officials failed to represent their case, the Magistrate issued non-bailable warrants against them.
