KCR demands TDP MLA's arrest

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD May 17. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has demanded the arrest of the TDP general secretary and Narsampet MLA, Revuri Prakash Reddy, in connection with the murder of a TRS leader, P. Prabhakar, at Budharaopet village in Warangal district a couple of days ago.

Speaking to newsmen here on Saturday, the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, held Mr. Reddy responsible for the killing of Prabhakar. Unable to stomach the roaring success of the TRS rally at Warangal last month, Mr. Reddy visited Budharaopet, which was part of the Assembly constituency represented by him, and allegedly instigated his followers to attack Prabhakar who had mobilised villagers for the rally in four trucks.

Mr. Rao also demanded an unconditional apology from the TDP president and Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, for the incident.

He warned that the separate Telangana movement led by TRS would intensify if TDP leaders resorted to physical attacks against the party cadre.

Referring to the outbursts of TDP leaders against smaller States at the ongoing mini-Mahanadu in districts, Mr. Rao said the leaders from Telangana districts were acting against their own conscience.

He asked why they did not have guts to question the Chief Minister on the share of Telangana in the waters of Krishna and Godavari rivers. What were their weaknesses.

The TRS leader also asked the Government whether it would implement the 610 GO or not.

He called the GO sanctioning Rs. 1,500 crores for the Kalwakurthi lift irrigation scheme a farce as there was no firm allocation of water for the scheme and the World Bank would not fund the project on that ground. Mr. Rao said the TRS would support the May 21 nationwide bandh.

Cong. leader joins TRS : Mr. Rao introduced to newsmen a former APCC secretary, K. Manohar Reddy, who joined the TRS. He hails from Peddapalli in Karimnagar district and was the founder of the Telangana Liberation Students Organisation which functioned on the Osmania University campus.

Mr. Reddy said he was disillusioned with Congress after nursing high hopes about the party.

Cong. forum charge: The Congress Forum for Telangana wondered why the State Government was not giving administrative sanction to the Bheema lift irrigation project in Mahabubnagar district when a Japanese team which visited the site had expressed willingness to fund it.

Moreover, the project had a firm allotment of 20 tmcft from the Bachawat Tribunal and the Central Water Commission had also cleared the proposal, the CFT president, G. Chinna Reddy and another senior leader, Palavai Govardhan Reddy, told newsmen on Saturday.
