The presentation of the award was preceded by a nadaswaram recital by N.K. Selva Ganapathi and Dankanikotai Mani, both disciples of Sheik Chinnamoulana.

The Chairman of the mandali and former administrator of the Bangalore City Corporation, N. Lakshman Rau, traced the genesis of the mandali and the contribution of S.V. Narayanaswamy Rao.

The well-known musicologist, S.K. Ramachandra Rao, said Mr. Keshava Murthy had contributed immensely to the field of music.

Apart from playing violin with rare felicity, he had authored several books and taught violin to scores of disciples.

He said Mr. Keshava Murthy's musical rendering had discipline and mastery. His concerts were a treat to connoisseurs of music.
