Governor, CM extend Bakrid greetings

CHENNAI FEB. 11. The Governor, P. S. Ramamohan Rao, the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, and leaders of various political parties have extended their greetings to Muslims on the occasion of Bakrid tomorrow.

The Governor, in his message, said: ``The true lesson of Bakrid is mutual tolerance, respect for law and concern for the weak.''

Ms. Jayalalithaa urged the people to take a pledge to engender fraternity and humanism. She wished all Muslims prosperity on the occasion.

The DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, called for equality and brotherhood and removal of all differences. The MDMK general secretary, Vaiko, the INL State president, Abdul Khader, the Union Minister of State, S. Thirunavukkarasar, the Tamil Nadu Janata Dal (United) president, C. Balaraman, the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam president, M.H. Jawahirullah, and the chief hereditary trustee of the Anna Salai Dargah, Syed Moinuddin, among others extended their greetings.
