Shanta Kumar to head BJP poll panel in H.P.

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JAN. 6. In an attempt to bring together the warring factions of the party in Himachal Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party today announced that the Cabinet Minister, Shanta Kumar, a known critic of the Chief Minister, P.K. Dhumal, will head its election management and campaign committee for the Assembly elections due late next month.

The BJP has tried to do again what it did fairly successfully in Gujarat where the former Chief Minister, Keshubhai Patel, was put in charge of the campaign committee.

The three senior party leaders who will be special invitees to this committee are the general secretary, Arun Jaitley, `prabhari' or the man-in-charge, O.P. Kohli, and the Delhi state unit president, Madan Lal Khurana, as manager of the nitty-gritty of elections.
