Rice, garments distributed to fishermen

Pondicherry Jan. 6. The Fisheries Minister, A. Elumalai, today distributed rice and garments to about 1,090 fishermen families in the Cassicadai Assembly constituency. The rice and garments were distributed under a scheme of the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare to mitigate the sufferings of the fishermen during distress period, when they could not venture into sea because of inclement weather.

The Education Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan, representing the constituency, felicitated the Fisheries department for the gesture.
