New KPCC chief in two days?

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JAN. 6. A new Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief is likely to be announced in the next couple of days. Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, the AICC General Secretary in-charge of the State, Vyalar Ravi, said that consultations leading up to the new appointment were in their last stages, and the announcement would be made within the next few days.

Mr. Ravi has been holding consultations with a host of leaders from the State, including the Chief Minister, S.M.Krishna, and the KPCC chief, Allum Veerabhadrappa, and several ministers. Mr. Veerabhadrappa took up the job after V.S.Kaujalgi resigned following a corruption charge.

A year-and-a-half after that, Mr. Veerabhadrappa wants to relinquish the job and rejoin the Ministry. According to AICC sources, the KPCC chief has been requesting the High Command to find a replacement for him for the last six months.
