Dharna for flyover at Pettah

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Jan. 6. The Pettah Flyover Action Council staged a dharna this evening demanding the Union Railway Ministry to expedite steps to construct a flyover at the Pettah level crossing.

The Thiruvananthapuram MP, V.S. Sivakumar, inaugurated the dharna at the Pettah Railway Station gate. The construction of the level cross would help ease traffic congestion and also avoid accidents.

The council wanted the Government to develop the link roads as per the survey conducted earlier. The traders who are to be evicted on constructing the flyover should be rehabilitated under the proposed flyover, the council said.

K. Mohan Kumar, MLA, the Deputy Mayor, Sujanapriyan, the CITU leader, K. Anirudhan, the IUML district secretary, Bheemapally Rasheed, the RSP district secretary, Ambalathara Sreedharan Nair, the BJP district president, M. Gopal, the former MLA, Kadakampally Surendran, the DCC general secretary, M.S. Surendran, and the councillor, M.P. Saju, were among those who addressed the dharna.
