This Day That Age
Julius Rosenberg and his wife Ethel, convicted and sentenced to death in the United States for passing on nuclear secrets to Russia, were scheduled to die on the 14th of January. Meanwhile, Federal Judge Kaufman said on the 5th that if the Rosenbergs made an appeal to President Truman for clemency he, the Judge, would stay the death sentence till the appeal was disposed of.
