Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Prime Minister's musings are an effort at distancing himself from the acrimony of Hindutva zealots. Only a few days ago in Gujarat he was seen in the company of such zealots who spew venom to score political points. He has not broken any new ground ever since his Kumarakom musings. What the average citizen needs is a debate on the disadvantages faced by him in respect of his basic needs and social dignity. The Prime Minister's musings do not address them.
C. John Rose,
Sir, The Prime Minister, in his New Year musings, has lamented that the words `secularism' and `Hindutva' have become antithetical. Thanks to fanatic Hindu forces and pseudo-secular forces. Since these forces play vote-bank politics, these words have become antithetical. All the players in the political arena, including the Prime Minister, are responsible for this sorry state of affairs. Pakistan, the fountainhead of terrorism, has become an epicentre of terrorism. Now, the BJP and the other Hindu outfits, the fountainhead of fundamentalism, are trying to convert India into an epicentre of Hindu fundamentalism and fanaticism.
H. Ghouse Baig,
