Voters list to be updated

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 7. The District Collector, Mr. S. Sreenivasan, said that election officials had been directed to revise the voters list by deleting the names of people who had been transferred and those who had passed away.

An official pressnote quoting him said the deletion process would be completed in a time-bound manner. It said the names of dead persons were being removed along with the distribution of identity cards to those who had failed to collect them in the first phase of distribution.

The families of people who had passed away and those who had been transferred have been directed to inform the respective Village Office. The Collector also sought the help of political parties in this respect.

The pressnote said the list of voters who have not received identity cards had been published in the Taluk Offices. These voters should collect their cards before April 10 from the distribution centre in each constituency.

Mr. Sreenivasan said that identity cards would be distributed on holidays also. He said a meeting of political party representatives and officials had been convened to discuss the model code of conduct. The pressnote added that a campaign would be launched to familiarise voters with the electronic voting machine.
