Woman arrested on cheating charges

CHENNAI, APRIL 7. A woman who allegedly cheated several persons
to the tune of about Rs.50 lakhs on the pretext of arranging NRI
funds for business was arrested by the City Crime Branch police
today.
According to police, the woman was running an air hostess
training institute and a charity trust at T.Nagar. She had
befriended Ms.Usha Rani running a dance school at Pallikaranai
near Tambaram.
She reportedly persuaded her to give upto Rs.15 lakhs over a
period of six months on the pretext of arranging NRI funds.
Following a complaint from Ms.Usha Rani, the police arrested her.
The DCP (Flower Bazaar) and CCB in-charge Mr.Shakeel Akhter said
the police were in the process of getting complaints from the
others who had been similarly cheated.
