TMC loses 21 seats

CHENNAI, APRIL 7. The TMC lost to the AIADMK many seats won by it
in the 1996 election largely because the support base of the two
parties overlap in the southern and western districts.
The 21 constituencies are: T. Nagar, Sholingur, Thandarampattu,
Omalur, Talaivasal, Pongalur, Bhavani, Theni, Cumbum, Nilakottai,
Melur, Natham, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Thirumayam,
Thiruvadanai, Mudukulathur, Vasudevanallur, Tenkasi,
Cheranmahadevi and Sattankulam.
Similarly, the CPI lost three sitting seats: Tiruppur,
Perundurai, Nanguneri.
