Home Minister denies reports on meet on Telangana issues

MAHABUBNAGAR, APRIL 7. The Home Minister, Mr. T. Devender Goud,
on Saturday denied the alleged meeting in the house of Deputy
Speaker, Mr. K. Chandrasekhara Rao, wherein the problems pertains
to Telangana region were discussed with leaders of Opposition
parties.
Mr. Devender Goud described it as totally baseless and as
concocted. He was speaking to presspersons at Beechpally after
reviewing the passing out parade by the 3rd batch of 10th APSP
Battalion, Mr. Goud said political parties in the State had
become shelter points for factionists and the drive to contain
factionsim had yielded good results, particularly in Rayalaseema
region.
He said action would be initiated against police officers found
having business connections with fake naxalites. The Home
Minister said steps were being taken to implement the New Police
Act and the merits and de-merits of the new act would be studied
for three years. An impartial enquiry was being conducted into
the suitcase bomb case. The Home Minister inaugurated the police
station building at Shantinagar and another remodelled police
station at Rajoli village in the district.
Addressing public meetings, the Home Minister said Rs. 2 crores
was allocated to modernise and strengthen the police force. He
said people and police-friendly programmes like ``Maithri and
Sannihitha'' were yielding good results. He called upon
constables to dedicate themselves in maintaining law and order
and communal harmony.
The Civil Supplies Minister, Dr. N.Janardhan Reddy, said
Government was taking all necessary steps to take up lift
irrigation schemes in the district besides implementing many
programmes to check the migration of labour from the district. He
also said steps were taken to eradicate the practice of child
labour and other social evils.
The Mahabubnagar MP, Mr. A.P.Jitender Reddy, the Alampur MLA, Dr.
R. Ravindranath Reddy, urged the Minister for sanction of
checkpost at Alampur crossroads to prevent accidents on National
Highway 7.
The IGP Mr. J.V. Ramudu, the DIG, Mr. Sambasiva Rao, the In-
charge District Collector, Dr. P. Laxminarayana, the
Superintendent of Police, Mr. N. Balasubramanyam, the Addl. SPs,
Mr. B. Malla Reddy, OSD Mr. Anil Kumar, were among the
participants.
